Libraries are a passion of ours coupled with our love of literature. A well-designed and unique library is a statement in a house, as Plato agreed when he penned “A house that has a library in it has a soul.”

We design custom-built libraries that blend with the style of your home. Meeting with you allows us to chat through what you need, what you envisage and importantly a design that reflects your particular needs. A library is a significant addition to a home and one that merits consideration. We are on hand to talk you through the design process and offer advice from our own experience

Libraries typically fall into two types, painted timber and lacquered timber. Both have their individual merits and a decision as to whether you plan a period or a contemporary appearance is usually influenced by the style of your home. Timber species like oak, walnut and sapele add a warm distinctive feel to a room. Lighter species such as ash and maple can add more of a contemporary feel. Painted libraries can be both subtle or dramatic, it all depends upon how you envisage the appearance. A library is a significant addition to a room and we are happy to offer our experience as to how your colour choice might work.

Dependent on your preferred style we can incorporate either period or contemporary details to complement the design. Popular for period libraries are features such as bookend mouldings and timber cornice. The ever popular library ladder is an option of course and adds a real touch of class. Shelving can be either fixed or adjustable as an option – ask us and we will be happy to talk through design.

Both painted libraries and timber finish libraries are assembled in modular form in our workshop and are either spray-finished with paint or lacquer being brought to site sectionally for assembly on-site.

Each project is handcrafted in our Rutherglen workshop by us. We are cabinet makers who have real pride in our work and a flair for the extraordinary.
